Save money by building a diy pool

So you want a pool in your back yard. Who wouldn't! Nothing beats being able to jump in to a pool on a hot summer's day after a pool side sun bath. But before you start ringing pool construction companies for quotes, stop! There is a a solution that can save you thousands of dollars, and also provide a fun and fulfilling experience: a diy pool.

Do it yourself pools are becoming more and more popular with home owners that want their own swimming pool. Why? Simply because you can save thousands. So how is it done?

Firstly it is important to understand that when I say diy pool, I am not suggesting that you get a spade out and start digging, that would not be economical (and by the time you were finished you would probably nhate the pool you had created). No, what I suggest is contracting out the work yourself to subcontractors instead of going through a pool construction company who would use inhouse tradesmen.

So how does this save you money? Well, swimming pool construction companies are not charities. Their owners are paid, their directors are paid, their sales team are paid, money is put in to marketing their services... where do you think all that money comes from? You, the consumer, thats where it comes from. By contracting the work out yourself you can cut all of these costs.

It is important to note that although you will not have to do any of the physical work yourself you will need to know the process of constructing a pool so you can schedule the various subcontractors in the correct order. There are many websites on the internet and books available to help you with this, including a blog entitle the diy pool blog which can be found at diypool.org.
